New Machine

Almost exactly five years later, my sturdy desktop machine has finally bit the dust. Since I've had it I've patched and upgraded, but finally last month when components in it started dropping like flies (first the power supply, then my primary hard drive (thank you backups!)) I decided it was time to get a new machine.

The specs:

  • Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+
  • 2x1GB OCZ DDR400
  • Antec Sonata II Case
  • 0.7 TB of disk space (3 hard drives)
  • DFI Lanparty NF4 w/ dual 1GB ethernet

With the two combined cores I've got over 8000 bogomips. Yeah baby!

It's blazingly fast and the antec case is as quiet as it promises. It even comes with rubber grommits for the hard drives. It was too bad that the lanparty doesn't come with an AGP slot, I had to pickup a PCI-E video card. I also wouldn't recommend the Lanparty NF4 with the sonata case. The case comes with ducting which a can't use due to the layout of the NF4. It was also a challenge to get all my hard drives plugged in. Here's some pics:
